How to organize the perfect Halloween party

It’s already October and for a lot of people, that means that All Hallow’s Eve is fast approaching! In order to guide you towards something other than the traditional haunted house, here’s a couple of ideas.

The Pastel Soirée

Who said that Halloween needs to rime with “horror”? This colorful evening is a great way to let your inner kid come out. Plus, you’ll be sure to have a party that’s perfectly insta-worthy!

The decor:

For the decorations, let your creative side shine through. The internet is filled with funky no-carve pumpkin ideas, so put your Pinterest account to good use! Punny garlands can also add some humor to your event. As for the menu, bright colors are definitely required. With the hundreds of unicorn-inspired recipes that are pouring out of the interweb, you don’t risk being out of snack ideas.

The costumes:

Mermaids, leprechauns, pumpkins, Pop Art paintings, Twiggy-like mod girl… Anything that’s happy and enchanting!

The candies:

The spooky mix, the rainbow cubes and the dinosaurs.

The Playlist:

I Want Candy - Bow Wow Wow

Sugartown - Nancy Sinatra

Sugar, Sugar - The Archies

Candy Man - Christina Aguilera

The Horribly Fancy Affair

Now that is an adult Halloween party!

The decor:

For this rather classy gathering, the key word is “ambience”. Think velvet tablecloths, candles, dim lighting and old jazz music. This theme is ideal for a murder mystery game! The most adventurous ones among you could even host a Ouija séance.

A bloody red velvet cake and gloomy drinks would go perfectly with your banquet’s atmos-fear. For a slightly distinguished touch, serve your cheese on a gothic-inspired dish.

The costumes:

Corpses from the Victorian era, undead old Hollywood actors and elegant characters such as Cruella de Vil and the Addams Family.

The candies :

E=MC 2 brains, soft and sour spiders, and Dracula’s teeth.

The playlist:

Secret - The Pierces

I Want a Little Sugar in My Bowl - Nina Simone

The Skeleton in The Closet - Louis Armstrong

The Cozy Evening

This one’s perfect for lovebirds or for those of you who just don’t want to make a big fuss about planning.

The decor:

It doesn’t have to be complicated! Swaddle yourselves with loads of your comfiest blankets and make your favorite hot drink. If you feel like partying a little bit, why not play a drinking game while watching a scary movie? You can create your own rules, like drinking everytime someone gets killed, everytime a sinister music is heard and everytime someone in the room jumps, screams, or cover their eyes. Otherwise, you can always go with the trusty horror stories to keep you entertained. But don’t forget the popcorn. Oh, and lots of candies!

The costumes:

Anything that comes as a onesie ;)

The candies :

The little pumpkins, the sour worms and the chicken legs.

The playlist:

Thriller - Michael Jackson

Zombie - The Cranberries

Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps) - David Bowie
